Writer Lee Gyu-won, who is called “Hongdae Lee Writer,” appeared in the podcast “Jung Young-jin & Choi Wook’s Hawkbulb Show” aired on the 6th. After graduating from Hongik University’s Department of Painting, he completed his master’s course at Goldsmith University in the UK and completed his Ph.D. from Hongik University’s Department of Painting. Since then, he has held individual and group exhibitions in Korea and Shanghai, China, and the UK. Currently, he is a visiting professor at the Department of Painting at Yeungnam University.
The artist commented on Youngnam Cho, Hyeseon Gu, Jungwoo Ha, Solbi, saying, “I did an investigation on how Korean celebrities are being evaluated in the art world.
Regarding Solbi, the artist said, “Solbi doesn’t seem to have learned painting. If you’ve learned it, you can’t do this. I don’t know what Solbiwants to show on art.” It is the level of middle and high school students who want to go to,” he said.
When asked, “Is this your personal opinion or opinions of experts?” Lee said, “I asked about 10 artists and curators. The negative opinions are overwhelming.”
In particular, when asked by the question, “Who hasn’t seen either Solbi or Koo Hye-sun, I’ll be honest. Koo Hye-sun is not worth mentioning. She is an artist, film director, and writer. She is not good at everything.
I wish she just is an actor. I think she is very emotional and has some talent but it is just low level that just an art academy student who wants to go to university. Her artwork can put somewhere city center not exhibit at a department store,” he pointed out.
Koo Hye-sun also responded to such harsh criticism. However, rather than confronting this artist, he calmly expressed his thoughts, saying, “Art cannot be objective because it is felt, not evaluated based on judging criteria.”
Koo Hye-sun said, “Before, I have said that all human life is an art and that all can be artists. Art is not great. It is just a way of expressing that we exist in this time and space now. Therefore, touching wrinkles by the elderly is also an art, and if it acts, it becomes art, and children’s innocent crayons scribbles can also be framed and displayed to become an art. All of you dreamers can become artists, so don’t be afraid of the evaluation of others!” Said.
