Prosecutors investigated Singer BoA for alleged smuggling and found not at fault for violation of import regulations

Singer BoA received a non-prosecution while under investigation by the prosecution for delivering medicines she was prescribed last year from overseas to Korea by mistake by an SM Entertainment employee.

Recently, it was confirmed that BoA received a non-indictment from the prosecution for bringing her overseas medicines into Korea without formal import customs procedures.

In December of last year, an employee of SM Entertainment’s overseas branch sent a sleeping pill to Korea that BoA was taking while promoting in Japan. However, in the process, they did not go through the formal import procedures and violated customs regulations for imported medicine, and the employee and BoA were investigated by the prosecution.

Regarding this, BoA explained, “It is true that an employee of an overseas branch delivered medicines by mail without formal import customs procedures, but it was not an illegal import, but a mistake due to ignorance.”
