LG Pushes to Establish a Third Battery Plant in U.S.A

The LG Energy Solution is pushing forward with the US automaker General Motors (GM) to build an additional battery plant in the US.

The Wall Street Journal reported on the 10th that GM and LG plan to build a new battery cell plant near an automobile assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan.

The two companies said they plan to invest more than $2 billion (2.306 trillion won) in building a new battery plant.

If the two companies set up a battery plant in the US in Michigan, it would be the third joint venture after plants in Ohio and Tennessee, which are currently under construction.

It is said that it is currently in the stage of consultation with the local government to obtain tax reduction and project approval.

Therefore, the establishment of the factory may be delayed or modified.
