Sleepy billionaire lawsuit resumes after 1 year and 2 months

The lawsuit for damages filed by the agency TS Entertainment against rapper Sleepy (36, Kim Seong-won) enters a new phase and continues the battle again. The ruling in this trial, which had already belatedly answered the lawsuit, has been canceled.
The 34th Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul Central District Court is scheduled to proceed with the due date for a defense lawsuit worth 280 million won worth of damages filed against Sleepy by TS Entertainment (TSENTR) on July 2nd. The lawsuit, which was filed by the warden in December 2019, was later tried to make a decision without a pleading because Sleepy did not respond to it.

The trial is expected to resume in one year and two months after May 8, 2020.

This lawsuit previously attracted public attention due to controversy over Sleepy’s life. Sleepy said that he did not receive a proper settlement from TS Entertainment, and he complained that he suffered from life while he was active, but TS Entertainment rather refuted that “Sleepy has embezzled” and fought a fierce conflict.

TS Entertainment filed this lawsuit against Sleepy on December 9, 2019, and said, “Sleepy is lying about the settlement with the company. “I have admitted to myself that there are no problems with payment.” In particular, he added, “Sleepy is acting in abusive manner by making false claims as if Sleepy himself filed a lawsuit because he did not receive settlement payments through various broadcasts and media.”

In this regard, the lawsuit that Sleepy filed against TS Entertainment in 2019 has either been defeated by Sleepy or has been dismissed by the court. Sleepy filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment in April 2019 and May 2019 to confirm the existence of an exclusive contract, and an application for temporary injunction to suspend the validity of the exclusive contract.

On the other hand, Sleepy has repeatedly emphasized that it did not receive settlement by insisting on terminating the exclusive contract with TS Entertainment, and TS Entertainment said, “Sleepy informed her that she had confirmed payment of settlement income in the fourth quarter of 2018 through a lawyer, and Sleepy filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment. There is no content in the collection of’Please return the payment because you did not receive the payment’,” he argued.

Afterwards, the court notified that Sleepy’s separate lawsuit was undergoing a mediation request procedure, and that it had also applied for a merger of pleadings on this case, and asked both sides about the possibility of mediation. Because of this, they have also requested an order to submit financial transaction details for Sleepy’s social media ad appearances.”

After the results of the Star News confirmation, the trial was put on hold in order to observe the results of the case in May 2020, and Sleepy eventually submitted a response letter and related data to TS Entertainment’s submission of an order to submit financial transaction information. About 10 months later, the court did not have a pleading date.
